Video Tour

The weather has been absolutely wonderful this past week! The plants are doing well, even if some of the “summer” crops are getting ready to retire and make way for fall plantings. Before the garden goes through another seasonal transition (pulling things out and putting new things in) I wanted to provide you with a video tour of the property.

The tour is in two parts. The videos are very basic – please forgive me for the shakiness of the walking portions. For those of you who have wanted to stop by and haven’t had the time – and those of you who are just curious about how this suburban micro-farm is laid out – here’s your chance to see it all! To view the tour, click play on the videos below.

During the video I missed a couple of areas that I had intended to share with you. Oops… Rather than making a whole new video, I thought I’d just share some pictures with you instead.

Owen's raised bed garden

This is Owen’s 4′ x 6′ raised bed garden. It can be found next to the swing set in the backyard. He’s growing basil, a cabbage, zinnias, gerbea daisies and cucumbers. He enjoys picking cucumbers right in the middle of play time to eat with his friends.

Young blueberry bushes in large pots

These blueberry bushes are two years old. They’re still in pots because I’m not sure where to put them yet. Next year I hope to give them a permanent home. Meanwhile, they live in the main garden.

Young golden zucchini plant in a pot

This golden zucchini plant will bear fruit in the fall. I started it in a 12″ pot because when I was ready to grow it, there was no room in any of the garden beds. I’m curious to see how it will do in the container.
